Beautifully described, as always. Counting my blessings to live a few steps from Les Halles and the twice weekly outdoor market here in Tours, in the heart of the Loire Valley, known as the Garden of France. You should come visit!
We will be in Paris in May for a scant 10 days. My ideal day would be market, coffee and pastry, excellent lunch, a walk, then dinner at home with a baguette, cheese, and maybe cook a little from our market haul. And I could do this on repeat although my travel companions may want more variety. My next planning task is to make my list of markets to visit, maybe even pinpoint the best cheesemongers or other vendors. Any suggestions for where to start my research? We will be staying in the 1st BTW, very near E. Dehilleran so there will be some cookware shopping on the agenda.
Seeing you describe sitting with your coffee, appreciating all your finds was so relaxing 😌
Thank you. It is relaxing, almost my favorite part of the whole process because it is dream-time!

Thank you! I’ve been just once, but didn’t make it to the market. A joy to come!
Such a beautiful ode to the market. Thank you for this -- truly made my heart swell on this winter Monday morning.
Thank you so much, Marcia. We all need our hearts to swell and I’m so happy this did that for you!

Which is your favorite marche now that you are in Paris?
My neighborhood market, of course. But I love all markets in Paris! Rue de la Convention or Avenue Saxe.
Oh, the Bastille Market is heaven. Those oysters! Those cheeses! And the wonderful vendors who are always full of such good humor.
