Susan, you have so many talents but the one I love the most is your sixth sense of capturing the essence of one’s soul or ability to transport us to a specific time or place in a couple paragraphs. I already adore Jane just from this post! You see us, know how to describe us but always keep a piece for yourself and leave us wanting more details. ❤️
Susan, thank you for sharing me with your lovely readers! It is such a pleasure. For me, the magic of food isn't how we transform it, but rather how breaking bread together can transform us! I'm fortunate to do that in Paris with the most wonderful visitors.
What a coincidence! I picked up "The French Ingredient" yesterday and started reading it right away. I'm amazed at your courage of coming to work in banking in Paris at such a young age. Where is La Cuisine Paris located? web page?
Really hope you enjoy it Debbie! Hopefully you'll visit one day - we are just on the Quai in the heart of Paris near Hôtel de Ville. You can find us here: www.lacuisineparis.com
What a wonderful interview! I agree, food memories are often the most enduring, filled with kindred spirit, sanctuary and love. I absolutely enjoyed reading this post and learning more about Jane Bertch and La Cuisine Paris. Attending a class at La Cuisine is now on my bucket list!
Thank you for reading our chat Karista. The beauty in food is that we share in and enjoy it with others - let's use it to bring people together, it's the one subject we can all still agree upon!
I recommend La Cuisine Paris to all my American friends who visit Paris. I did one of the market tour/cooking classes a few years ago, and it was great. It's much more than learning a few recipes. The market tour was a window into French food culture, and the guide/teacher curated the menu to our interests & dietary needs. The cooking was fun, and then we sat down together to enjoy the fruits of our labor in La Cuisine's sunny front alcove.
Barbara I am thrilled to know you have been with us - so hopefully left knowing the power of a shared meal! And yes, food is culture, it is family, it is stories...it's the one thing that we can use to connect no matter what our differences are! Hope you come back one day!
I took a wonderful class as La Cuisine a few years back and learned to make perfect macaron! Thanks for sharing this interview! Enjoyed reading, as always.

Lori, I have read every one of Susan’s books but never been able to articulate why I love her writing so much. You just did! Thank you.

Lauren, I'm so glad to know you have been with us - hope you return one day, and in the meantime I hope you are making tons of macarons at home!
